HYPERTUFA
CLASS
June
12th
10 am
|
Cost: $40.00
Make your own hypertufa planter! You'll create a
wonderful planter using Portland cement, peat moss and perlite.
Glenda Hopp of Farmbrook Designs will first describe the
materials and the process then students will make their own
hypertufa pots. All ingredients will be supplied.
Class will last two hours. You will make your planter during
class then take it home to let it cure. We'll give you ideas for
ways to give it a finished texture after it has cured.
Glenda and her son, Chris, have been making hypertufa garden
objects for almost ten years. They are regular vendors at Master
Gardener Conferences and many other gardening events.
Important Information: Wear old clothes and shoes-something that might be worn for
painting or furniture refinishing.
Bring sturdy, waterproof rubber gloves. The lightweight nitrile
or dish washing gloves will tear.
Bring something to use as a mold:
-
It can be a plastic or terra cotta pot,
sturdy cardboard box, disposable aluminum roasting pan,
bucket, plastic bin or other sturdy container.
-
If the container is not a cardboard box it
should be a little wider at the top than at the bottom. Even a
slight angle to the sides is enough. You may not be able to get
your planter out of an old enamel roasting pan with perfectly
straight sides. -
The container may get scratched so don’t bring
an heirloom bowl! -
If the mold container is cardboard or disposable
aluminum, bring a board to carry it home on. -
The container should be large enough to hold 3-4
gallons.
